Pinot Noir, Nobles Vineyard, Fort Ross-Seaview, Sonoma Coast – 2017

      The Tasting Panel
      93 Points

From the Davies family of Schramsberg Vineyards, this expressive red has reached prime ripeness in its ninth vintage; it spent 15 months in 100% French oak. Hedonistic aromas of salted plum and pomegranate accompany undertones of ripe cherry, animale, and salty red fruit for a mouthwatering effect. Notes of red tea and a savory finish of fennel and root beer make a unique impression.

Pinot Noir, Ferrington Vineyards, Anderson Valley – 2017

      The Tasting Panel
      94 Points

From the family behind Schramsberg Vineyards, the eighth vintage of this Pinot Noir is stunning. A nose of sweet cherry and rose petal leads to a delicate mouthfeel that whispers clues of sweet tobacco and salted strawberry jam. The finish of tilled soil shows balance and depth.

      J. Davies Cabernet Sauvignon, Jamie, Diamond Mountain District, Napa Valley – 2014

      Jeb Dunnuck
      96 Points

One of the gems is the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Jamie, which is named after the founder of the estate and is a barrel selection. This medium to full-bodied, incredibly layered and seamless Cabernet offers a beautiful perfume of red and black fruits, dried earth, bay leaf, and spice cake aromas. It’s perfectly balanced, has no hard edges, and will keep for 2+ decades.

      J. Davies Cabernet Sauvignon, Estate, Diamond Mountain District, Napa Valley – 2016

      The Tasting Panel
      95 Points

The Davies family purchased the Diamond Mountain Vineyards in 1965, replanted it to Bordeaux varieties in 1994. This is the wine’s 16th vintage. A blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Malbec and 6% Petit Verdot, it spent 22 months in 62% new French oak. The opulence on the nose shows off dark chocolate and savory herbs, leather and blackberry. Lush and round on the mouth, this curvy, earthy red offers up cinnamon and cumin, and a hint of spearmint. Fruit is black and lathered with black licorice.
