"Ridiculously good, and mature"

“Michael Brajkovich MW of Kumeu River is one of surprisingly few New Zealand winemakers to take Chardonnay seriously. This 2007 Estate bottling is ridiculously good, and mature…”

"The Estate Chardonnay comes entirely from this producer’s grapes, and only the best ones at that since the lesser fruit goes into their Village bottling (also reviewed this week). In addition to subtle fresh tropical fruit notes, it conveys minerality and marvelous richness. Subtle toasty oak enhances the overall impression. It has marvelous length and finesse. It delivers far more than the price suggests."

“Bright, nervy, intense; ripe, tropical, citrus and melon. Dry powerful, aromatic fruit balanced with spicy oak.”

"Kumeu River’s Estate bottling remains among the finest in New Zealand, beautifully balancing oak and fruit in an intricate ballet of toast, vanilla, melon and pineapple. It’s full bodied and round in the mouth."
