Wine & Spirits
Esprit comes from the vineyards at the foot of Mount Sainte Victoire. A blend of grenache, cinsault, syrah and rolle, it offers more flavor than the pale pink color predicts: Bright, limey acidity and wild-strawberry notes are underlined by the savor of wet stone and garrigue. It’s ready to pair with an herb omelet.
The Wine Advocate
A partly barrel-fermented (in Austrian demi-muids) blend of Syrah, Grenache and Rolle, the 2018 Cotes de Provence Sainte Victoire 946 is a spicy, oaky wine, completely different in style from most Côtes de Provence rosés. But once you wrap your head around the style, it's an impressive effort, offering enough citrus, melon and peach flavors to support the wood. Just drink up, as I suspect with time the wood will dominate.
Shimmering orange-pink. Powerful, oak-spiced aromas of nectarine, strawberry, blood orange, vanilla and honey, plus a hint of smoky minerality in the background. Deep-pitched, mineral-driven red berry and pit fruit flavors pick up fennel, vanilla and candied lavender nuances with air. Clings with serious tenacity on the penetrating finish, leaving notes of peach nectar and raspberry preserves behind. Fermented in new Austrian oak demi-muids and raised in concrete tanks.
Very pale, lurid orange. A deeply perfumed bouquet evokes mineral-accented citrus and pit fruits, along with a powerful floral overtone. Coats the palate with juicy nectarine blood orange, strawberry and lavender flavors that take a sweeter turn and tighten up on the back half. The floral note comes back strong on an impressively long, focused finish that shows excellent clarity and solid mineral thrust.

Juicy and well-delineated on the palate, offering subtly sweet raspberry, tangerine and white peach flavors that spread out on the back half. Concentrated yet lithe in style, finishing with strong mineral and floral thrust.
Vivid orange-pink. High-pitched strawberry, peach and jasmine scents are complemented by building floral and herb nuances. Silky and energetic on the palate, offering fresh red berry and pit fruit flavors and a hint of bitter orange pith. Is there anything more spring than a glass of rosé? We sure can't think of any—and since National Wine Day is a springtime holiday, it's only right that celebrators honor it with a bottle of pale pink juice.
