The Wine Advocate
Formerly known as the Croix des Vérillats, the 2016 Moulin-à-Vent Les Vérillats unfurls in the glass with notes of plummy, spicy fruit and creamy new oak. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, with melting tannins and creditable concentration and acidity given the difficult year, concluding with a wood-inflected finish.
Fragrant and complex, this is a sophisticated Moulin-à-Vent that’s got good structure, as well as well plenty of sour cherries. The touch of tannin at the finish is already well integrated. Drink or hold.
Blend of several parcels. All terroirs vinified separately. They use tall and rather narrow 50-hl tanks so that they have a deeper cap. 10% aged in barrel. Mid purple crimson. Lightly floral and expressive but also a fine dark dusty note. Bright and juicy and very fresh. Very fine texture, the tannins there but almost invisible. Light spice and pepper. Dark red fruit. Tight and juicy and lively dark-red fruit. Dark tangy finish.
Greyish crimson. Much more dusty/rocky mineral aroma than their blended Moulin-à-Vent; dark finesse, dark fruit without sweetness. Wine opens up more quickly than the other single site wines. Almost austere in its freshness and dry texture, paper-fine but upright. Lightly peppery.
Greyish crimson. Peppery freshness and elegance. The oak much less marked than on the Champs de Cour. Peppery freshness. Really delicate and refined dark rocky fruit. Long, fresh, dry finish. Scented in a lovely dry, dark way.

"...The property produced impressive 2014s, including this cool, racy, umami-driven red. This comes from an 8.4-acre parcel on a granite plateau; it was destemmed, cold-soaked with pre-fermentation pumpovers, and aged 17 months in French oak..."
