Insoglio del Cinghiale (Tenuta Campo di Sasso)
Insoglio del Cinghiale, Toscana IGT – 2008

The Wine Advocate
91 points

"The 2008 Insoglio del Cinghiale emerges from the glass with rather assertive aromatics, including grilled herbs, blackberry jam, smoke and scorched earth. Plums melt into wild cherries and an assortment of other dark fruit in this plump, juicy red."

"Medium yellow. Ripe, clean, highly aromatic nose combines gingery spices, flowers and a honeyed nuance. Fat, silky, sweet and full, boasting strong yellow fruit flavors and impressive volume. "

"…Wonderfully silky and palate-saturating, with near-perfect balance and superb inner-mouth perfume to the flavors of lime, minerals and white flavors. This opens out spectacularly on the extremely long, mineral-soaked back end..."

"…rich, ripe and opulent in the mouth, boasting a much more silky texture, and greater power, than the Bienvenues (there's less topsoil here). Shows the sugar/acid balance of a perfectly ripe peach. Flavors of pear and tilleul contribute complexity to this succulent and fleshy wine."

"Very rich and chewy in the mouth, showing riesling-like mineral and pepper qualities...deep and chewy, perhaps holding back as much as it's showing today. Expands impressively on the back end, finishing with a sweet impression...."

Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles – 2009

"…Sweet, brisk and densely packed; plenty of stuffing here but in a distinctly energetic style. In fact, this wine's serious acidity should enable it to evolve gracefully in bottle. Very complex already."

"…Cool aromas of lime, white flowers and crushed stone…Then juicy and fine, with penetrating, scented flavors of lime and white flowers. Impresses with its balance, juiciness and length rather than with sheer volume."

Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières – 2009

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

"…Juicy, vibrant and intense, with noteworthy definition to the white peach and floral flavors. The wine's almost dusty texture conveys a strong impression of extract…A time-capsule Folatieres that should give early pleasure."

"Full, bright yellow. Reticent nose hints at a subtle spicy quality. Rich, sweet and layered, with flavors of yellow fruits, flowers and spices. Not a minerally style, but finishing firmness leavens the impression of sucrosite...."

"Bright pale yellow. White peach, subtle white flowers and minerals on the lively nose. Stony, broad and rich, with a classic sugar/acid balance giving this rather silky wine a light touch. Very nicely balanced premier cru."

"Ripe stone fruits, grilled almond and vanilla on the nose, lifted by a spicy element. Good sweet, fleshy Meursault, conveying more precision and an impression of firmer acidity than the Puligny villages...Finishes with very good length."

“Pure aromas of yellow peach, spices and menthol, plus a slightly peppery, herbal quality. Then fat and supple in the mouth, with a strong element of grilled hazelnut. In a fairly thick style but has good energy.”

Insoglio del Cinghiale (Tenuta Campo di Sasso)
Insoglio del Cinghiale, Toscana IGT – 2008

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

“Deep purple-ruby. Aromas of ripe blackberry, black cherry, violet, graphite, herbs and sweet oak. Lush and very sweet but with lively mint and floral notes lifting the flavors of black cherry, plum, coffee and vanilla. Finishes fresh, with a firm edge of tannins and lively acids, but has so much creamy fruit that it comes across as supple and suave. This will provide much early pleasure; I find it better balanced and livelier than the also very good 2007.”
