Windsor Sonoma Winery
2007 Chardonnay, Russian River Valley
The Appellation
Covering almost 200 square miles in the heart of Sonoma County’s coastal landscape, the Russian River Valley climate is sculpted by the regular intrusion of cooling fog from the nearby Pacific Ocean. This cool maritime influence allows the Windsor Sonoma Chardonnay grapes to develop full flavor maturity over an extended growing season, while retaining a high natural acidity.

Near perfect weather and significantly lower yields from the previous vintage made 2007 a standout vintage in Russian River Valley for classic, Burgundian-style Chardonnay. Fragrant, tropical fruit aromatics—with lovely tones of mango and pineapple accented by a subtle Muscat—and a distinctive, crisp, mineral character can be attributed to the vineyards’ attributes. The wine’s extensive time on the lees has resulted in a silky mouthfeel framed by natural bright acidity and layers of rich flavors, including Fresh Gravenstein apple, passion fruit, mango, crème brûlée and toasted nuts.
