Castello di Volpaia
2007 Borgianni, Chianti
Borgianni is an old family name of Volpaia.
The Borgianni Chianti is made from a selection of the best grapes from hillside vineyards in the Chianti Senese area.
Once the grapes were destemmed and crushed, they were left to ferment in stainless steel vats for about 10 days at temperatures between 80 and 86 degrees. After resting for eight days, the juice was drained off the skins. Malolactic fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks.
The Borgianni is a lively ruby red hue with purple highlights. There are fine, persistent floral and red berry aromas on the nose. The 100% stainless steel aging promotes the characteristic Sangiovese flavors. It is a rich, well-balanced wine with a long finish.
