Domaine Leflaive
Biographies

Anne-Claude Leflaive
In 1990, Anne-Claude Leflaive, and her cousin, Olivier, became co-directors of Domaine Leflaive. Shortly afterwards, Olivier turned his concentration to his négociant business. After Anne-Claude’s father’s death in 1993, she assumed the sole responsibilities of the domaine.
Anne-Claude immediately took a passionate interest in the long-term health of the vineyards and began experimenting with biodynamic farming practices. By 1997, she had realigned Domaine Leflaive’s viticultural practices entirely, to be in accordance with biodynamic principles.
In 2008, Anne-Claude collaborated with six other highly respected Burgundy vintners to establish Ecole du Vin et des Terroirs in Puligny-Montrachet. With the goal of broadening wine professionals’ knowledge and understanding, Ecole du Vin et des Terroirs is an educational program that focuses of vine growing and winemaking using an ecological, environmental and humanistic approach.
Anne-Claude’s passion and her dedication are evident in every aspect of Domaine Leflaive, from her respect for the soil to her commitment to quality throughout the winemaking process. She has thoroughly maintained her family’s pioneering spirit while demonstrating great prescience in her full adoption of biodynamic viticulture. Her progressive nature has firmly cemented Domaine Leflaive as a benchmark for all Burgundy producers.
Eric Rémy
Eric Rémy joined Domaine Leflaive in 2003. In 2008, he became the cellarmaster when Pierre Morey retired.
Born in Beune, Eric originally pursued an education in science and later accounting and management until 1982, when he worked in the vineyards of Philippe Bouzereau in Meursault. He continued there until 1993, initially as he switched his studies to viticulture and enology to complete his university work.
After leaving Philippe Bouzereau, Eric worked at Domaine André Brunet in Meursault for one year. From 1996 to 2003 he was chef de cave at the Château Genot Boulanger in Meursault, a domaine with 27 hectares (67 acres) from Mercurey to Chambolle-Musigny.
Today, Eric lives near his birthplace with his wife and six children. In his spare time, he pursues his other interests, including renewable energy resources, health foods, biodynamic food gardens, draft horses and rugby.
