WILSON DANIELS LTD. ANNOUNCES SECOND SERIES OF WINE FILMS Facebook and Twitter add interactive twist, behind-the-scenes access SAINT HELENA, Calif. (July 28, 2009) – Wilson Daniels Ltd., sales and marketing agency for international wine estates, will produce a second volume of online wine films for its Wilson Daniels Films documentary series with an interactive twist: behind-the-scenes access via Facebook and Twitter.
Beginning July 29, 2009, Wilson Daniels fans, friends and followers can experience the filmmaking process—such as watching outtakes, reviewing scene shots, and picking their favorite landscape panoramics and people shots—through these popular social media forums. Wine enthusiasts visiting California’s Napa Valley and Oregon’s Willamette Valley during film dates can also receive invitations to exclusive filming activities, such as a sunrise balloon ride with the filmmaker and winery owner, grape harvesting with the picking crews and editing parties at tasting rooms. Those interested in participating are encouraged to join the Facebook group Wilson Daniels Wines, where film footage, images and invitations will be shared. Information will also be posted via status updates for Wilson Daniels Facebook friends, B.Napa Studio friends and tweets to Wilson Daniels followers on Twitter.
“These films were created to forge a deeper connection between small family wineries and consumers or members of the wine trade who don’t get to visit the wineries regularly,” says Lisa Mattson, director of communications at Wilson Daniels and executive producer of the film series. “Our winery owners have been telling their stories online through high-quality film for nearly one year, so it’s a natural progression to bring our audience closer to the families and their estates by sharing our filmmaking journeys through social media.”
“I’m excited to give fans of the Wilson Daniels Films series the opportunity to experience the filmmaking process,” says Bret Lyman, filmmaker and proprietor of B.Napa Studio, who created the Wilson Daniels Films series last year and returns this summer to expand the series of compelling, short films to include California and Oregon producers.
Films from Wilson Daniels Films: Volume I, which profiled wine estates in France and Hungary, have been viewed more than 10,000 times online and are being utilized by online retailers, such as Wine.com, to offer a more dynamic and educational virtual purchasing experience.
Each high-definition, 3- to 5-minute documentary film explores the history, setting, and distinct personality of the properties through images and interviews with winery principals. Five producers will be featured in Wilson Daniels Films: Volume II: Clos Pegase, Schramsberg Vineyards and Silverado Vineyards in California’s Napa Valley, and Ponzi Vineyards and WillaKenzie Estate in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Filming will occur July 29–30 at Schramsberg Vineyards, August 17–18 at Ponzi Vineyards and August 20–21 at WillaKenzie Estate. October filming dates for Clos Pegase and Silverado Vineyards will be announced in early September at Wilson Daniels Wines on Facebook.
Individual films will premiere online in November and December 2009. All films will be available for download to iPods via iTunes (Wilson Daniels Films free podcast), as well as Web-based viewing at Wilson Daniels Films, Facebook, YouTube and Vimeo.
